Officials say one person was killed and 14 others injured in a gas explosion and fire in a 17-story apartment building in the Bronx.

A woman has life threatening injuries after her house burned down in an explosion in Friendship, Maine, Monday night, officials said. The Knox County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call around 9:45 p.m., reporting an explosion at a single-family residence located at 36 North Harbor Cemetery Lane, the Maine state fire marshal’s said in a statement.

UPDATE: MONDAY 1/19/2026 10:28 p.m. (COLORADO SPRINGS) — According to CSPD, the initial call to dispatchers before a structure fire in the Knob Hill area on Monday, Jan. 19 reported an explosion. CSPD said officers and fire personnel with CSFD responded to the 2500 block of East Dale Street on a report of an explosion.

Neighbors reported hearing the explosion at around 6:30 p.m. The area was still blocked off to traffic just before 8 p.m.

Firefighters responded to a house fire and gas leak in Moxee on Wednesday. The two-story house in the 300 block of East Seattle Avenue was destroyed in the fire, and no one was hurt. An East Valley Fire District post on Facebook described the fire as a compressed natural gas explosion.
